'Stone & Ember Pizzeria began with a simple dream: to bring true Neapolitan pizza to London. Established by the Thompson family in 1985, our pizzeria started as a modest, family-run spot with recipes handed down through generations.
Our founder, George Thompson, learned the craft of pizza-making during her journeys across Italy, training with master pizzaiolos in Naples—the birthplace of pizza. Upon returning to the UK, she aimed to recreate the magic of authentic Italian pizza, using time-honored methods and the finest ingredients.
What began as a small 12-seat pizzeria has grown into a beloved local institution, yet our commitment to quality and authenticity has never wavered. We still use the same wood-fired oven techniques, prepare dough daily from scratch, and source the highest quality ingredients available.
Today, 'Stone & Ember Pizzeria remains family-owned and operated, with the second generation of the Thompson family now leading our passionate team. While we've adopted some modern innovations, the heart of our business stays the same: creating delicious, authentic pizza that brings people together.
